The Business Environment
In this unit you will learn about the different types of business, their ownership and purpose, how businesses are organised and the external factors influencing business activity.
In this unit you will learn the human, physical, technological and financial resources required in running a business, how they are managed effectively and why this is important.
Introduction to Marketing
In this unit you will learn about the role of the marketing function, with particular emphasis on the role of marketing research and how it contributes to marketing planning and the development of a marketing mix for a target group of customers.
Creative Product Promotion
In this unit you will gain knowledge and understanding of the promotional process and the importance of the choice of promotional methods. You will learn about the promotional mix, the role of advertising agencies and the media as well as gaining the skills to enable you to create a simple promotional campaign of your own.
In this unit you will have the opportunity to develop, analyse and evaluate a range of methods used to communicate different types of business information and will understand the purpose of such communication. You will also produce and evaluate different types of business communication of your own.
Developing Teams in Business
In this unit you will experience working as part of a team and as a leader in a given situation. This will help you to prepare for work and to understand the skills and attributes needed both for cohesive teams and effective leaders. You will build confidence in your own ability as a team member and, as a leader, recognise the weakness and strengths of others and how team members can be supported.
