BTEC Certificate / BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Dance
Qualification Certificate / Subsidiary Diploma
Duration 1 - 2 years
What will I study?
This is a vocational course with a strong emphasis on practical work. You will study a range of dance styles and creative approaches; as well as increasing your knowledge of safe practice and the performing arts industry.
You will study the following units:
You will be required to attend a minimum of one live dance performance and one professional workshop (usually organised on the college site) per year.
The total cost of enrichment activities will be no more than £20
All assessment will be based on coursework. Your practical coursework will be a combination of performance work, assessed techniques classes, choreography tasks and collaborative team-work. Your written coursework will be a combination of research tasks, reports, and evaluations.
You will need to achieve the general entry requirements for Level 3 study as well as having some experience of practical dance (through private lessons or dance study at Level 2)
Useful Supporting Courses
This course could be combined with Performing Arts and Music/Music Technology for a performance focussed programme, but would combine equally well with any of the other A-Level subjects for a more varied programme. We also envisage that some students may wish to choose this course in combination with Sciences or Maths as a contrasting option that has a more practical coursework emphasis.
