Thomas Rotherham College recognises that members of staff and students have an important role to play in safeguarding the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and preventing their abuse. The College has comprehensive Safeguarding, Child Protection and Vulnerable Adults policies to ensure the welfare of the student is always placed at the centre of its activities. This include issues of online safety and the Prevent agenda. These safeguarding policies are published on the College website and the staff and student intranet. The Designated Safeguarding Lead is David Naisbitt, CEO Inspire Trust.

We have a team of staff who have particular responsibility for students with special needs; students can discuss their needs and how these can be met with members of this team. Students with disabilities are encouraged to disclose their disability and can be assured that this information will be kept confidential and acted on in a supportive and sensitive manner. All students are offered learning support from the CLASS team based in the LRC. This will be tailored to each individual student's needs, for example: help with spelling and grammar; support for dyslexia or adjustments to exam provisions.
